Orthodontics & Braces
A speciality of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. The most common form of orthodontics is the traditional wire ones that are put on the teeth to straighten them. Invisible braces, more commonly known as Invisalign, are made of smooth and transparent plastic and are used to straighten teeth without the use of metal.
Crowns
A crown, or dental cap, is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. A crown may be needed when a large cavity threatens the health of a tooth.
Fillings
Fillings are used to fill the area on the tooth where the decay has been removed. They are also used to repair some broken teeth. Today, most teeth are filled with tooth colored plastic and materials called composite resin fillings.
Implants
Think of dental implants as artificial tooth roots, similar in shape to screws. When dental implants are placed in your jawline, they bond with your natural bone. They become a sturdy base supporting one or more artificial teeth and also can be used to help dentures stay in place.
Endodontics Or Root Canal
Root canal is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it. The term “root canal” comes from cleaning of the canals inside a tooth’s root and thereby saving the tooth for a placement of a crown.
Dental Extractions
A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth which has become unrestorable through tooth decay, gum disease, or dental trauma, especially when they are associated with a toothache.
Periodontics
Periodontics is the specialty focusing exclusively on the inflammatory diseases that destroy the gums and other supporting structures around the tooth. A periodontist should be seen when there is bleeding while eating or brushing and if there are loose teeth or gum recession.
Full & Partial Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
